42 is a work rooted in the study of geometry — particularly the circle — used both as a tool for musical composition and as the foundation for the spatial architecture of its sound diffusion.
The title “42” refers to the main antagonist in the animated film Akira, directed by Katsuhiro Ōtomo. Ctrl-Z extends the narrative thread of this cinematic work to explore new artistic dimensions.
Composed for spatialized audio diffusion, the piece is structured into seven phases, like chapters, each unfolding its own unique sonic world. Sometimes abstract, sometimes minimal, the instrumental choices create strong contrasts between movements. Indonesian gamelans and their intricate clockwork patterns encounter Western instruments like organs and choirs. Electronic music phases drive forward imagined cityscapes, reshaping sonic matter to form new auditory landscapes. The sea and rain blend into cycles of repetitive arpeggios, cradling listeners like a gentle summer night.
For the visual aspect, lasers are the primary light source — generating dense, futuristic, and minimalist imagery. Their intermittent presence plunges the audience into darkness, sharpening their auditory focus.
Beyond its conceptual framework, geometry becomes space — giving rise to an experience that crystallizes through each person’s individual perception: intimate, and bordering on the sacred.

42 is an audio immersive experience where the intricate mechanisms of Indonesian gamelans converse with Balkan voices, while electronic music confronts the power of Western organs.
The circle and geometry serve as foundations for the musical structure and sound architecture.
